Warlords, they're all the same: "who, they had agreed, would not risk showing himself on this mountain"
RIP: flash of steel—and then
Damn, it's my dude bringing the havoc, ain't it?
Love this: "time to warn the goddess of his impending arrival and beg for her favor."
Idc, I love him so much: "He simply stood still, holding eye contact with his opponent until the man’s gaze lost focus and his head lolled forward."
Yeeees, fucking love her too: “VEEEEEEIIIIIIIIII!!!”
Goddamn it, Tom.
Hahaha (whimpered through tears): Ael (Miruz was pretty sure)
Well, fuck, I don't want either of them to win or lose: "You and me."
Awww, slipped in this precious moment like a knife between the ribs: "They made eye contact for the briefest moment, and Uskol the Bastard grinned."
😭"find another one", “I need your help.”, "beautifully-made sword he’d taken as his prize" 😭
Tom, I love how you never let us forget the humanity behind the battle whether through poignance, mercy, or humor. Glorious, yes. Brutal, yes. Gratuitous, never.
It’s my mission this weekend to chop it together into a pod! So nice talking to you - if you’re in Switzerland ever I will definitely buy you a beer (or ten)!
Seriously? I speak Finnish and thought to myself that some of these words and places and names had that language base. I think I read The Lord of the Rings also had language derived from Finnish. It’s an odd language.
I've never really been a fan of these sort of battle stories. But this is so different, so HUMAN. My eyes are filled with tears for Metan and all the others.

'Goddamn it, Tom' indeed. See my note.
I saw. And now I see why it's perfect.
So. Much. Good. Stuff.
This series might be my favorite high fantasy content on Substack (don’t tell Ian or Eric lol)
Wouldn’t dream of it hahaha
Great stuff as ever Tom, amazing fight scenes that feel like the Spartans having a last stand.
Thank you so much, mate. And excellent talking with you over the weekend! Looking forward to hearing the final product.

I don’t partake anymore…something about being in rock bands in my early twenties blah blah blah…but we’ll figure something out!
Did you get a chance to look at Ch 10 as well? We wrapped it up this week with a double.
Not yet - it’s on my list for this weekend
Thanks for sharing. Are some of these names based off the Finnish language?
Holy shit! Yes. I tried to mash together Finnish with some Armenian and Azerbaijani for the base of my ‘old tongue.’

My guy!

Thank you so very much. That was my goal. (The human thing, not making you cry haha)
You're very welcome. I wouldn't be human if I didn't cry.
